Hames Road near Pilot Point, Tx

San G. from Encino, California, United States

Feels like something's brewing up there. What did it FEEL like? The image conveys a lot.

@San G.: It made me feel responsible to keep moving down the road looking for good locations to take pics. And it sorta ruined all the skies I've seen since waiting for something better to come along. Special - an event.

Markela from Athens, Greece

Nice cloud formations....Beautiful DOF!! :))

@Markela: Thx, Markela.

Pied Crow from Nairobi, Kenya

Terrific, impressive sky, a lot going on up there.

31 Mar 2009 3:46pm

@Pied Crow: Weird sky. Wasn't stormy, just a thin textured blanket with rents and tears in it.

Lindsay from North Carolina, United States

awesome sky...nice shot Tex!

31 Mar 2009 7:00pm

@Lindsay: Freaky deaky sky.

Tony Duque from Raleigh, United States

Wonderful shot, shroom!! What a great study in contrasting textures... incredible detail, too. That sort of a sky makes for flaming sunrises and sunsets if a gap at the horizon enables illumination from below. Wonder what that looked like from 35,000 feet. Very cool... thanks for sharing!!

31 Mar 2009 8:53pm

@Tony Duque: Bingo, TD. The sunset an hour later was incredible. It lit up the underside of the cloud-blanket like a big glowing fan. I got some pics of it - put one up soon.

Susan from Fort Lauderdale, FL, United States

Lucy in the sky would just LOVe this photo!!! what'd you use to process this one??? It looks incredible!!!

31 Mar 2009 10:46pm

@Susan: PP was pretty simple - converted from RAW to jpg with Canon's DPP software, ran the jpg thru a pseudo-HDR program, trimmed and touched up a bit back in DPP, then finished up with a quick pass thru GIMP. This recipe is hit and miss. This one hit nicely - really low noise.

Tony Duque from Raleigh, United States

I curious about pp software/techniques, too! But I'm really excited about the chance to see your sunset shots from this same day... can't wait!

31 Mar 2009 11:49pm

@Tony Duque: See my reply about pp to Susan above. I'll send you a note when I put the sunset pic up so you don't miss it - sometime this month probably. TD, I got a sunset pic in queue for next Monday you might like, too.

Taylor from Charlotte, United States

love the feel of this image - and the corresponding Beatles lyric title!

1 Apr 2009 1:23am

@Taylor: Those lyrics are over 40 years old now. Wow - time flies.

Grahame from Mt Maunganui, New Zealand

Thats a sky I can understand !!
They're fun to play under.
Cool Shot.

@Grahame: Definitely has a 'dreams within dreams' feel to it. Absolutely.
